As one of Kigali’s newest openings, Legend Hotel is fast becoming the abode of choice for East African business people visiting Kigali. So, if you are a businessman coming from Uganda, Kenya or Tanzania, you’ll definitely be in good company.

“This is a Pan-African hotel. Most of our clients are Kenyans, Ugandans and Tanzanians but we also host many business people from other African countries,” says Ted Intwanza, the hotel’s assistant manager.

It is understandable why this charming boutique hotel is a sought-after sanctuary for East African business people. For meals, Legend serves up a wide range of Kenyan, Tanzanian and Ugandan cuisine, including kachumbari (fresh tomato and onion salad), sukuma wiki (colewort) and matoke (boiled and mashed green banana), among others.
And the food, according to Intwanza, can be personalised for client’s preferences and schedule – at a cost of Rwf7,000 (about $9).

Away from the food, Legend Hotel is located in one of Kigali’s coolest and most tranquil neighbourhoods, Kacyiru – away from the bustling streets in the city centre. This, coupled with incredibly friendly staff, well-designed furnishings, minimalist aesthetic, comfort and style, makes Legend stand out from the crowd.

“The hotel has a friendly and homely feel to it and the ever smiling and respectful staff will make your stay a delightful one. For the standard of its service, the room rates are extremely fair. Meals are a mixture of local and continental,” a Kenyan businessman who was a guest at the hotel last year said on TripAdvisor.

The hotel has a total of 16 rooms that are decorated in an elegantly understated style, blending Western traditions and contemporary design.

A standard room goes for $80 while deluxe will set you back by $100. For a more luxurious experience, you can go for a junior suite, which costs $150. Situated on the topmost floor, suites offer a little more privacy and breathtaking views of Kigali city and its surroundings.

In addition, guests can revel in free wi-fi, DStv, breakfast at no extra cost, and free transportation to and from the airport.
